A vendor with a clear, specific answer to this question, rather than a generic implementation timeline, is usually the one that has done this particular kind of transition before.

Parent experience sits over both. Independent school families are, in effect, paying customers, and they judge the school partly on how easy it is to pay, book and stay informed. One app that covers notices, consent, billing and catering feels professional. Three logins for three tasks does not. Look for a single parent-facing account that carries all of it.

Reporting is the third. Staff and leaders need to see how a cohort is doing without stitching numbers together by hand. A system that pulls the right data into a clear report lets the people running a school act on it sooner. The value is not the report itself; it is the decision it supports and the hours it saves.
